Book Review: None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell

None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell

★★★★

At first I thought this book seemed like a twisty take on the movie A Simple Favor, but it’s not quite the same. While there are definitely a few similarities, this book is so much more complex than the movie.

Two women, Alix and Josie, both celebrating their 45th birthdays, cross paths in a bar. They’re not just any strangers—they’re “birthday twins,” born on the same day in the same hospital. Alix, a podcaster, is intrigued by Josie’s suggestion to collaborate on a podcast about her life. Josie married to a man 20 years her senior at 18, and her story is disturbing and intriguing.

As it unfolds, you’re taken on a wild ride of twists and turns, constantly questioning what’s real and what’s not. My dark brain had me thinking of a different ending, but the actual ending kind of leaves you hanging, wondering the truth.

I would definitely recommend reading it, it’s a page-turner that will keep you guessing until the very end.
